Englewood, Co – September 24, 2011 – Dr. Ryan Redfearn, Dr. Trent Redfearn, Dr. Thomas Stone, and Dr. Justin Evanson are out to change lives by offering free smiles to anyone who needs dental work, as they host the latest event for Dentistry From The Heart.

Dentistry From The Heart (DFTH) is a national non-profit organization with a simple mission – making people smile. Founded in 2001 by a dentist in New Port Richey, Florida, DFTH was created to aid those in need, including the growing population of under-insured Americans. Over 100 million Americans lack dental insurance, and over 29 percent of adults have untreated cavities. Without events like DFTH, dental care simply isn’t an option for many of the uninsured. To date, DFTH has helped over 5,000 patients and provided over $1 million in dental care.

“Now more than ever, I know there’s people out there that need my services, but have no means to afford them – whether they’re out of a job, or just don’t have dental insurance. This Dentistry From The Heart event is my way of giving back to the community, and being there for the people who are in need of dental work,” said Dr. Ryan M. Redfearn

The event will take place on September 24, 2011 at Legacy Dental in Englewood Starting at 7:00am, The doctors and their volunteers will treat the first 200 patients, or however many they can service by 5:00pm. Dentistry From The Heart is a registered non-profit organization that offers free dental work for people who need it. Dr. Vincent Monticciolo founded the organization as a means to give back to the community and address the growing number of people without dental insurance. In the past seven years, Dentistry From The Heart events have contributed over $1 million in free dentistry and helped over 5,000 patients across the country.

We're Moving!

Redfearn Family Dental is excited to announce the completion of our new dental practice. We will be moving into our new location on Monday, August 1, 2011 and will begin seeing patients on Monday, August 8.

Our new state of the art dental practice offers the best in patient comfort. Every operatory is equipped with nitrous oxide, televisions with cable, and dental chairs that have massage and heat options. Our digital xray technology allows Dr. Redfearn to see even the tiniest details and diagnose decay earlier than film xrays. We even have a kids area with an Xbox!

Our new practice is located on the corner of Wildcat Reserve Parkway and Fairview (McArthur's Ranch). We are on the 3rd floor of the medical building behind the Walgreens and Wells Fargo. Our new address is:

More medication may be given depending on the type of procedures being performed and the duration of the appointment. Definition of the Perfect Smile

The "perfect" smile starts with strong teeth and healthy gums - this should be the first priority for anyone considering a smile improvement. Once this basic goal is achieved, you'll want to examine all your cosmetic dentistry options, to see how best to create the most esthetically ideal smile for you.

There is a natural law of beauty called the Golden Proportion, which, when applied to dentistry, means your smile should have the natural symmetry, shape, size and contour to fit your face.

A golden smile includes symmetry of the two front teeth as well as the neighboring teeth. Even if you don't have a natural symmetry around the centerline, we can create the illusion of evenness by lining up your two front teeth, as well as the adjacent teeth that are close to the midline, to create a balanced image.

The evenness and proper length of your gums is important too, as gums that are too long or too short can completely alter the look of your teeth, no matter how perfect your teeth are. Maybe you have an excess of gum covering your front teeth, making them look short and your smile too "gummy." Or perhaps your gums are uneven, making your teeth look like they're different lengths. Gum reshaping, a fairly simple in-office procedure, can even out your gums, and therefore improve the whole balance of your smile.

There are scientific ratios associated with the ideal smile, including the size and proportion of teeth, lips and gums, as well as how the nose unifies the sum of the parts to create the ideal profile. Your smile line, which ideally follows the curve of your lower lip, connects the biting edges of the top teeth. A curved smile line can make you look significantly younger, while a flat smile line looks aged and worn. There's even something called a reverse smile line, which results in a reverse arch.

Dentistry from the Heart,
On Saturday, September 12th, Dr Tom Stone, Dr. Ryan Redfearn, Dr. Paul Wyeman, and myself hosted a free day of dentistry. Some people slept in their cars in the parking lot in order to make sure they would be seen. We anticipated that we would see around 150 patients. We ended up seeing 199 and providing over $53,000 in dentistry. When the first patient of the day that we helped got up from the chair she was in tears. She hugged both myself and the assistant, Andy. She went out and got a card and flowers and immediately brought them back to the event. I was overwhelmed the whole day with the amount of gratitude shown by the patients and the 13+ hours of hard work put in by the volunteers. This is why I became a dentist. We hope that this will be an annual event involving more and more people every year. I will post some pictures when available. Again, I want to extend a big thanks to my staff and the other volunteers who worked so hard all day, some in the freezing rain outside. I know that we made a difference in people's lives. I feel so grateful for what I have been blessed with and I am glad that I was able to give back.

We welcome you to our new Redfearn Dental Blog. As we have been updating the technology in our practice we have been searching for new ways to make it easier to communicate with our patients. As many of you have noticed we now have the capabilities to schedule and confirm appointments through email and texting. Our new website offers updated information on the practice as well as descriptions, pictures and even videos of certain dental procedures. This blog is just another way for us to update you on practice events such as Invisalign open houses and Rockies Day, special patient offers like $50 credit towards account for referring your family and friends, and dentistry in the recent news. Toward the bottom of the blog you will see a question and answer section. We want this to be an open forum for you to ask any type of questions that you may have.
